Beauty Ad. Analysis.

I chose this beauty advert by Dior from 2014  for the perfume "Blooming Bouquet" to analyse because it has a similar colour scheme as the photoshoot editorial beauty ad that I wish to create. The bright, natural looking light and the various pink tones are elegant looking and create a demure yet confident look to the model, Natalie Portman.  Her stance is relaxed yet sexy and creates the playful look that is similar to what I wish to create in my beauty ad. For a beauty ad her face isn't the focal point of the image as you are first drawn to the dress which travels around the image allowing the viewer's eyes to follow it to her face and hand where she is holding the perfume. However the perfume and writing are obviously placed in front to clearly show the viewer what is being sold. This advert was definitely designed to sell the consumer the life of luxury and is basically saying " if you buy this perfume, you will be living this lifestyle of extravagant beauty."

Her makeup is very simple as the ad is not to eventuate the model's face but the perfume. She is the face of the perfume but the makeup is not the product that is being sold. I really like the pink and nude and mauve tones of the advert which create a soft and gentle appeal to the image that draws the viewer in and makes them feel relaxed, safe and innocence.

Overall I like the style of this ad and its playful yet sexy elegance. This colour scheme is something i wish to create with my word and i think this will help to inspire my project.
